GPs required to report all ‘unexpected’ deaths to CQC
What a good idea! Except that the CQC will not be able to cope with yet another requirement .... in the best interests of those in need of care, I mean.

I don't know whether you will be able to read the full article because it sometimes needs a subscription to Pulse which is (allegedly) there for professionals.
So not all articles are readily available for all to read.
Haven't been able to find the DoH original 'requirements' place on DoH website, so if anyone can come up with it, please post a link. Ta muchly.
GPs are to be required to report all ‘unexpected' deaths of patients who have received recent treatment to the Care Quality Commission, in a move designed to prevent a future Shipman going undetected.
CQC officials will respond to reports by interviewing GPs and inspecting practices, particularly where more than one death is reported over a short space of time.
