ANOTHER POLICE INVESTIGATION INTO CARE HOME ABUSE.
Hello Everyone,
Just a short one from BBC Text service.
CARE HOME DEATH " NOT AN ACCIDENT "
Police are investigating the death of a care home resident in Manchester.
Ivan Emmanuel Campbell, 73, a resident at Victoria Nursing Home, Anson Road, in Rusholme, was admitted to hospital on 16th April 2012 and died the following day.
A post-mortem examination found he died from internal injuries. The coroner has been informed
Greater Manchester Police said, after an examination of the private nursing home, they had concluded that the injuries were non-accidental.
Will see if I can dig something more up on this new case.
Very kind regards Ian.

What an absolute farce..........
"The home was slammed by the government’s care watchdog last October for failing to do enough to protect people from abuse. the CQC had major concerns that people were not being protected from poor care and treatment. They blasted the home, saying ineffective management was putting residents at risk, and expressed concerns that staff were not reporting safeguarding incidents to the local authority for investigation. "
then
"The home was last inspected by the Care Quality Commission in January. Inspectors made a routine visit and found that it was meeting all the expected quality and safety standards. They found an action plan had been put in place to monitor allegations of abuse, accidents and incidents. The home passed the latest CQC assessment, but two residents told inspectors they had been subject to ‘inappropriate touching by another person using the service who lacked capacity to fully understand what they were doing’. Another person said they felt threatened by someone using the service – but said staff had tried to keep them safe.
The report said: "The care home needs to continue to be vigilant to ensure that people who use the service are not subject to inappropriate behaviour.
"The managers’ actions need to continue to include risk management plans, appropriate staffing, observations and other preventative measures, such as providing activities to keep people occupied."
The 'Care' Home Manager should be dismissed and appear before a Court WITH the so called carers AND the Home Owner AND the members of the CQC who stupidly allowed the home to stay open under such circumstances - common sense says at the very least some kind of overseeing Manager should have been installed to ensure the situation was corrected.
Our elderly and particularly the mentally infirm are treated worse than dogs - the RSPCA would remove a dog from such a risky environment.
Makes me so very very angry - God only knows what the family are going through eh Kermie!
What'll happen - just one or two will get smacked wrists and then probably return to similar environment to work - nothing more I'm sure.
