Petition: CCTV in all care homes
The only way to prove abuse and bad practice is by visual evidence, and this has been proven time and time again with media exposures, especially with the Winterborne case and the more recent Panorama coverage.
The word of a relative or good care worker can often be dismissed by care providers Care Quality Commission, Social Services etc. with disastrous consequences. Relatives may end up being victimised or even banned. Care workers can be bullied or at worse lose their jobs.
CCTV is vital to back up allegations. Concerned relatives would be reassured and good care workers would feel less fearful of whistle blowing. It is also very important CCTV is managed by an independent body, not connected to the government care sector or associated charities. Independent and Transparent are the key words.
Prisoners, small children in nurseries, even the public are all protected by CCTV, so why are our elderly and vulnerable not ?
Please sign and share amongst your friends to help us achieve our goal with a minimum of 1,000 signatures.
PLEASE HELP ..... our elderly and vulnerable need us to do this.

Your wish is my command, Your Frogness.

Very best wishes

Well, if you insist, Ern, then I shall be honest as all Frogs are honest too .... you may have lost the plot long ago if you still have any connection to this particular forum.avenger wrote:Your wish is my command, Your Frogness.

Or else you're drinking far too much tea. Have you ever thought of drinking anything other than tea? Go ask Moley for recommendations.
PS. Has Moley also signed? If not, why not! If Moley has, then thanks to a mole in a hole.
Re: Petition: CCTV in all care homes
Thanks to one and all who have signed this particular petition. As you may have worked out, it is fairly close to my heart.
Please get the Milk-delivery-person, the Post-delivery-person, the newspaper-delivery-person, and anyone else you can think of to sign the petition. Your Big or Little Brothers or Sisters, your next-door-neighbours .... well, you get my drift.
The petition is just young - and so were we all a few years ago. So, please do whatever you can do.
If you're on Facebook, or Twitter or ... connected to any other website, please promote it.
Thank you again.

Piece in the Cornish Guardian.

I'd love to spend a weekend in a care home with the spokesman for NO CCTV campaign who said:
However, a spokesman for campaign group NO CCTV said the suggestion was “typical of the modern excessive use of surveillance cameras”.
He added: “Cameras will not address the issue of abuse; they will merely further degrade the quality of life for care home residents. Such a measure may salve the conscience of relatives but a better solution would be to tackle the issue of abuse and not undermine the trust of all care home workers.”
If he thinks it has anything to do with 'salving the conscience of relatives', he's got a lot of learning to do.
