Just spoken to.........
a person who has left the employ of Social Services (of their own volition) due to having a conscience! I've given the site address and hope they may be able to drop snippets of information that could help us.........fingers crossed!

Re: Just spoken to.........
Ever heard of a L Clement - sometimes referred to by SS on t'other site. He's been successful in fighting CHC claims. A little bird has whistled in my ear that he's a trainer for PCTs.
Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
It should be a good thing shouldn't it - he should be helping them to understand the law and how things should be being done!
Why is it that I don't think that'll be the case do you think?

Don't panic, MissPiggie, he's a good'un. In fact he's shown himself to be a very good'un over the years.

and especially :
http://www.lukeclements.co.uk/search.html?query=continuing+healthcare
There was someone on t'other place who had no idea who LC is and who rubbished LC's whole lwork and efforts, without even having the energy or the inclination to look further than the end of his own stupid nose. That's how solidly reliable effort can sometimes need to work harder - and how some people are turned away from reliable sources of information by nutters who can't be a***d to do a bit of serious research.
Rant over!
Hope that helps ease your worries, MP!

Re: Just spoken to.........
That's good news indeed, perhaps it will help avoid the same pitfalls for others. Never know it might even help me...........but HJ will be dealing with SHA not the PCT in question.
Thanks

Hello Kermit
Thank you so much for the links above. I have read articles written by Luke Clements before, but not the ones you have provided a link to. I had not seen what he looked like until today, just my type! The articles are so beautifully written as well as informative.
Thank you again

Oh dear oh dear, how this brings it all back. I couldn't agree more Kermit. LC seems a knowledgeable and pragmatic individual, well published and easy to authenticate. What a load of crap was spouted elsewhere - probably pure and ignorant jealousy.
I was amazed to receive an email from the other place controller urging me to once again take advantage of his advocacy services and knowledge. Urmm. No thanks, I'm alright. In fact I'd rather consume my own head than put reliance and trust in that quarter again.
However... being on there did give me access to some excellent, kind and knowledgeable people with whom I was happy and privileged to share information and help out in some minor reciprocal ways... so it wasn't all bad.
Keep at it all. Know your facts and the relevant stuff, do your research and keep away from "false prophets"
Oh! Remember to be ready to switch your focus to SS - who often take on cases they shouldn't and seemingly like help in bouncing such cases back to the PCT.
Many hugs,
xx

Oh, Okeycokey, how we have missed you! Been wondering whether it was something we said that caused you to absent yourself. We even did what you asked for .... and created a Chatbox! Not that it's been used much, apart from The Informer talking to a Frog occasionally.
Good to hear from you again.
Question: was the soliciting email aka a request from elsewhere a recent one, or a rusty one?
Hope you are OK-coking and that all is well-ish with you.
Re: Just spoken to.........
I second that Kermit.....Nice to hear from you Okeycokey, are you able to give us an update on your situation at the moment?

just spoken to....
Yep, the email was withing the last 3 weeks!
Relative being cared for with family and with the help of a couple of excellent care homes and an Age UK day centre. As things get more difficult for all concerned, then given that 24 hour care was "prescribed" over 18 months ago, we may well have to hand that over to people who can do this in a fulltime and professional way.
Regarding care costs and CHC; we didn't get it, despite a number of serious and time consuming attempts, and turned our attention to SS who had been given a " hospital pass" by the CHC when it was clear there was a health need, but not one which they could afford to fund. We used the Age UK fact sheets to show that discharge and rehab procedures hadn't been followed. We didn't get charged for lengthy stays in rehab because they hadn't really done anything regarding his assessment for rehab; the point being that dementia is not an illness one can recover from.
Missed you lot too. Nothing untoward beyond taking on a job with crap pay and excessive hours (not NHS!), which took over my life for 5 months. Thanks for the chat room, and apologies for not using it in the way I reminisced from my Archers Addicts days.
